SERIOUS STATE OF AFFAIRS. AN ALLEGED CONSPIRACY. Received August 3, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, August 2. A rather serious state of affairs in connection with the goldmining industry on the Rand is reported by the London "Daily Mail's" correspondent at Maritzburg. The correspondent states that the thefts of gold have been frequent, and that sixteen detectives are now tracking the parties to a conspiracy to rob. j ' It is'said that confederates in the mines are handing gold to women, who carry it to the coast.
