In the House of Commons, Mr Will Crooks, Labour M.P., Rave notice of motion*-that having voted £50,000 to Lord Cromer, the House is of opinion that he does not need the Government pension of £9,000 which should cease in 1905." The motion was received with Labour cheers.
Received July 30, 10.20 p m. LONDON, July 30. The Canadian and Pacific, the Great Northern Pacific, and the Oregon Short Line, and the Atchison, Topeka and Santafe Railroads, have notfied shippers that they will abandon the export trade to China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia, on November Ist, and will practically abandon the import trade. This is a reply to the Inter-state Commerce Commission's rule requiring railroads to publish the inland proportion of their import and export rates. It is predicted that the steamship lines involved will be sold. CALCUTTA, July 30. A servant of Sven Hedin, the explorer, in a letter to a resident at Kashmi, reports that his master is well at Tibet, and the caravan is in good condition.
