TOPICAL READING.
THE LATE MR DALRYMPLE. The late Mr G. S. W. Dalrympb, who "joined the majority" yesterday after eighty years of a strenuous life, will be remembered in Masterton by those who knew him as a gentleman and a citizen with one striking and noble characteristic, a per-petual-an irrepressible —desire to be always doing some generous or charitable a:t. Of many excellent personal traits in a strong individuality this was the most prominent, and certainly the most praiseworthy. His many public benefactions alone speak for his kindly nature, and the public school children will remember him for quite a number of thoughtful, and even valuable gifts. A genial, self-reliant man, ha was a irvod pattern.
