WHO KILLED BOURKE?
CONNELLY PEKJURY CASE,

WESTPORT, July 29. At the hearing of the charge of perjury against Connelly, to-day, Detectives. Campbell and Mcllveney, and Inspector Black, gave evidence denying that Gaoler Carlyon had stated that Halinen and Andersen were innocent men, and that Connelly ought to have been arrested. Constable Keenan gave evidence corroborative of Constable Buttars, viz,, that an examination at the bark of McLaughlin's shed revealed no traces of footprints, sand said that when he arrested Conriel'.y on the night of the murder for breaking the window of the fish-shop he noticed that there was no mud on the boots and clothes of Connelly that he expected to find had Connelly gone, us alleged by Mrs Pearce, through the gate and paddock at the back of McLaughlin's shed. Connelly will give his evidence in tho morning.
