WAIRARAPA HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
♦ A meeting of the Wairarapa Hockey Association's Management Committee was held on Friday evening Mr E. R. Daniel occupied the chair. The matches arranged with Wanganui and Horowhenua were cancelled owing to the inability of players to obtain the necessary leave of absence to make the tour. < It was decided that the team to play Wellington, at Wellington, on August Bth, be chosen on Thursday evening next, and that this team play another Wairarapa team on Wednesday, August sth, at Masterton. The Nelson Association wrote asking for a match to be played at Masterton on Saturday, August 15th.—It was decided to play on the date suggested, and that the visitors be entertained. Arrangements were left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. It was decided to hold a seven-aside tournament on Thursday next, for trophies presented by the President (Mr A. C. Major). The nominations of teams is to close on Wednesday. In the evening a re-union of all hockev players is to be held, at which the M*ajor Cup and the tournament prizes are to be presented to the successful teams. Messrs O'Meara, Mcintosh and Daniel were appointed a committee to control the tournament, which will be held on the Lansdowne ground. It is expected that there will be at least nine teams competing, therefore a most interesting competition should result. The Manawatu Association wrote stating that they would visit Wairarapa as soon as possible after their return from Auckland.
