THE TRANSVAAL GARRISON.
Received July 24, 9.55-p.m. CAPETOWN, July 24. General Botha, Premier of the Transvaal, states that he strongly urged the Imperial Government to retain the Garrison in the Transvaal, but tne Army Council declined to retain more men than was necessary for defensive purposes, because it would dislocate the Army's organisation and also cause extra expense.
