The game was very fast all through and stubbornly contested. .Mr S. A. Noble-Campbell, who was referee, controlled the game in an admirable manner, and firmly impressed on Loth teams his determination to put down rough or illegal play. His decisions were given promptly and impartially, and the result of his refereeing was a very fine exposition of hockey. Carterton started the first spell - rush to the W.F.C.A. territory, and the home team were kept busy defending. Some good passing ensued, from which W. Fisher shot a goal for Carterton. Play was up and down the field for some time, first Carterton apd then the W.F.C.A. attacking. A fine combined rush by Carterton forwards resulted in W. Fisher agafn scoring. Play was of an even nature for the rest of the spell. On resuming, W.F.C.A. kept Carterton busy for some time, the home forwards plqyirg with good combination. Sievers and Morgan removed play to the centre. Good work 'by Thyime and Richards drove Carterton back, but a forward rush by the visitors saw the W.F.C.A. goal in danger, but Hall saved in fine style. Shortly after, this player saved another goal. For the rest of the game play was of an even nature and very exciting.
