EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION.

The e'.octun of a member to represent Wairarap;i on the Wellington Education Board will cake place this month, the ballot closing on Monday next. The candidates are three— Messrs R. Brown, A. H. Vile and A. Barrell. Mr Vila is the: retiring

memler, and seeks reelection, Messrs Brown and Barrell being new candidates fur such an office. We ate of the opinion that the claims of MiBrown to the suffrage of Wairarapa School Committees are so strong that ne shut!ld receive sufficient support to place iiim at the too of the poll. Mr Vila ha' 3 done excellent work on the Board and as a candidate for the district in which ho resides he migl.t be entitled to first claim on the support of committees. When we have residing in our own district a candidate possessing the qualifications of Mr Brown, school committees should be loyal to their district and return such a candidate. Mr Brown has for many years been a member of the Masterton School Committee, being Chairman for a long period. He is also Chairman of the Wairarapa School Committees' Association, a position he has dield since this organisation was founded. Mr Brown has closely identified himself with educational matters of all kinds, and is. <ma of the chief movers in the direction of promoting an Education iJuntViciieo at Mascerton. Some of the planks in Mr Brown's platform for the t lection

constitute the remedying of sum: 1 long-standing grievances jegardinq country school administration, and in Ilia position us Chairman of the School Committees' Association be has become very well acquainted with the necessity for some reforms he proposes to advocate if elected.
