THE LICENSING BILL.
A MONSTER PETITION. Received July 16, 9 a.m. LONDON, July 15 . In the House of Commons, Mr A. Henderson (chairman of the Labour Party) presented a Wesleyan petition in favour of the Licensing Bill, weighing 12c\vt. It is nine miles in length, and has 610,000 signatures attached. The petition had to be wheeled into the House on a trolley. Received July IG, 10.50 p.m. LONDON, July 16. Mr H. H. Asquith's resolution proposes to allot two days to clause 1 of the Licensing Bill before the recess, and the remainder of the Bill is to be dealt with in the autumn session when nineteen days would be devoted to the committee, and live days to the report stage, and one day to the third reading.
