AUSTRALIA'S SCHEME
DIFFICULTIES FROM ADMIRALTY'S STANDPOINT. Received July 16, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, July 15. In the House of Commons the First Lord of the Admiralty, the Right Hon. Reginald M'Kenna, informed Mr W. Redmond (Nationalist) that the Secretary for the Colonies (the Earl of Crewe) had given MrDealcin to understand that his scheme of Australian defence presents considerable difficulties from the standpoint of naval administration. . Mr M'Kenna reiterated the statement made by him on Monday to the effect that there was neeU for careful deliberation in regard to the Commonwealth proposal. He promised Mr Austen Chamberlain that if possible he would lay on the tables papers referring to the matter.
