MEYNELL AND GUNN COMPANY.
For their season in Masterton, on Monday next, the Rupert ClarkeJohn Wren-Meyncll and Gunn Company ara sending their dramatic organisation, headed by Harcourt Beatty and an English actress, Madge Mcintosh, who has already made herself a warm favourite in Auckland. The play chosen for production is the romantic historical drama by Edward Ferris, entitled "A Beggar on Horseback." Harcourt Beatty is cast as Marley Due de Tourney, a soldier of fortune, and is said to carry out the role in excellent style, while Miss Madge Mcintosh, as Lady Mary Dudley, is equally good. The action of the play takes place partly in Spain and partly in England, in the Jacobite days during the reign of George the I. Many historical personages figure in the long cast, including King George the and First Pretender. The period lends itself to beautiful dressing, which has been taken full advantage of. The box plan is open at Miss Rive's where seats may be reserved without extra charge.
