mantled. The opinion has been expressed that the structure is the largest auxiliary stand which has ever been erected in the Southern Hemisphere.
NEW PLYMOUTH, July 9. The following team has been chosen to represent Taranaki against Britain on Wednesday:— Full-back, A. Hardgreaves; three-quarters, G. Sheehan, D. Cameron, E. Dive; fiveeighths, H Mynott, J. Hunter; halfback, J. Colman; wing forward, T. Sheehan; forwards, Whittington, Cane, Crowley, Teamu, Smith, J. O'Sullivan, H. Rothery; emergencies —back, Hooker; forward, Pukere. The team generally is regarded as the finest Taranaki has put in the field for some years.
TI NUI CLUB
The annual meeting ot the Ti Nui Football Club was held last Saturday evening. Mr A. J. Hancock occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. Jt was decided to play Mataikona for the Barr Cup on Saturday, July 18th, and that the Club play no outside fixtures till after the Barr Cup matches are completed. The following officers were elected for the year:—Patron, Mr R. C. Maunsell; President, Mr H. A. Nevins; Vice-Presidents, Dr Dawson, Messrs James Langdon, A. J. Speedy, A. J. Groves and D* Speedy; Treasurer, Mr t\. J. Hancock; Secretary, Mr C. Collerton. The Club has somtf very smart players in its ranks, :• nd there is every prospect of a very successful season.
A match was played on the Showgrounds yesterday afternoon between the Rover Juniors and Albion Juniors, and resulted in a win for the former by 10 points to 3. For the Rovers, Hyland and Rzoska scored a try each, and Williams Dotted a goal. Lock wood scored a try for the losers. The Liberal Seniors forfeited to the Rover Seniors yesterday. The Rovers have won the Thursday Championship for this year. The following is the position of the teams competing for the Thursday Junior Championship: -Albions, 3£ points; Rovers, 3J points; Liber • als, 3 points. The annual match between the employees of Messrs C. E. Daniell and Lett Bros, establishments will be played on the Showgrounds on Saturday. The following will represent Mr C. E. Daniell's employees: — Murray, Duffel, Daniell (2), Gray, Barr, Desmond, Billington, Cohen, Oliver, Golder, Nielson, Braggins, Griffiths, Hay-McKenzie.
