LATE FOOTBALL.
TESTIMONIAL TO WALLACE,
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 7. A meeting held in Wellington, tonight, inaugurated a movement for a national testimonial to Mr W. J. Wallace, the well-known New Zealand footballer, who has retired from the game. Mr P. M. B. .Fisher, M.P., is chairman of the committee. Two persons have already subscribed £lO each and one £5. BY TELEGRAPH—PEESS ASSOCIATION. PALMERSTON N., July 7. The British team arrived here from Napier tu-duy. The weather prospects for the match to-morrow are good, and a strong wind is blowing, which, it is hoped will have the effect of drying the ground. The English team is as I'ollnws:— Jackett, Chapman, Gibbs, Jones, Williams, Morgan, Davey, Down, Hind, Oldham, Smith, Ritson, Archer, Williams, and Thomas.
