SOUTH AFRICAN FODDER.
RESTRICTIONS AND RETALIATION. Received June 29, 10.30 a.m. CAPETOWN, June 29. During a debate in the Cape Assembly some of the speakers proposed retaliation on Australia—for her action regarding South African fodder—by the abolition o? preference. Some hinted at trade "corners" as the real reason of the prohibition. Others dtprecated that suggestion. The Minister of Agriculture stated that the position was a serious one, and added that the Government would confer and announce its decision on Monday. The "Cape Times" regrets lhat Victoria is persisting in her objection despite the Cape's official guarantee regarding the fodder.
