WESTPORT MURDER TRIAL.

At the Supreme Court, this afternoon, the defence in the Westport murder case was continued.
In his opening address, Mr Herdman strongly emphasised that no tobacco had been found in tiourke's effects, and that no evidence had been brought <hat anyone had bought tobacco from him.
Ivy Pearce, employed at the fish shop where the row took' place on the night of the tragedy, said accused came in about 7.30 p.m., but she merely guessed the time. Mrs Shand, a boarding housekeeper, said she passed the Post Office going to the theatre at three m nutes to eight. She noticed the accused in the theatre, and Halinen especially. They were talking in a foreign languige, and went out during the interval. She afterwards saw Halinen push someone away from the fish shop.
