Received June 27, 12.15 a.m
LONDON, June 26
The Angle-Saxon Club entertained Mr J. Carruthers and Mr Davies, of Victoria.
Mr Carruthers, in the course of a speech, said that Australia was destined to become a great nation in the East. He referred to the neighbouring nations emerging from their long slumber, and Srtid that perhaps Australia would have to pay the penalty for mistakes in the past. Personally he did not think it would be a bad day for Australia when her manhood was put to the test.
