A LIBEL ACTION.
Received June 24, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, June 23. The Manchester "Courier" has apologised to Mr Winston Churchill for a libel published during the late election campaign, and paid £3OO v damages. }£l :;(■ _ The ground of action was the publication by the "Courier" of letters accusing Mr Churchill of breaking his parole and escaping from Pretoria during the Boer War; also with deliberately lying on the question of Chinese labour in South Africa.
