ESTIMATED EXPENDITURE FOR CURRENT YEAR. The following amounts have been agreed to by the Masterton Borough Council, as estimated expenditures for the current year on the various works, etc., specified Audit fee, £22; interest on overdraft, £300; fire prevention, £633; hospitals and charitable aid, £sßl'; legal, £B7; office, £137; salaries of officers and others, £807; public health, £200; parks, £398; elections, £7O; pound and dogs, £300; licensing, £100; Technical School, £25; scavenging, £300; sanitation, £500; street lighting, £700; street maintenance, £1,700; stables, £450; new stables, £300; Dixon Street widening, £100; Baths, £150; unauthorised, £6O. Gross totals, £7,720. Estimated receipts are set down at £2,667, leaving £5,053 to be raised by rate. 'The unimproved rateable value of the Borough at the date of final approval of this estimate is put at £538,350. The limit of rating is— General rate, ljd in the £ on capital value, £1,062,369 —£6,639. To produce £5,053 it will be necessary to make and levy a general rate of 2-25 d in the £ on the unimproved value. Particulars of separate rates are as follow:—Library, nil; Waterworks, similar to last year (graduated scale); special rates, nil; sanitation or sewerage and sewage disposal, ,30d; Bannister Street loan, £2,000, ,08d; £25,000, street loan (£1,215), .56d.
