The trial of Olaf Halinen and Anders Andersen, for the murder of Ernest John Bourke, at Westport on May Bt'n, was continued at the Supreme Coart thi* afternoon. Four .witnesses have so far been examined, the evidence being similar to that given in the lower Court. The trial will probably occupy the remainder of the week. DAIRY ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. PALMERSTON N., June 23. The Conference of the National Dairy Association was commenced to-day, Mr Foreman presiding, and delegates fro:n all parka of the Dominion being prere:,t. The Cliairman, in the course of his address, congratulated the Association on its financial position, pointing out that the credit balance was £l4O in excess of last year. He referred to the approaching return of Mr Cuddie (Dairy L'cmrnusiontr) to New Zealand, expressing the wish that he might nave arrived in time fo" the Conference. Mr Mackay, whn had been sent Home, had been picking up considerable information regarding the distribution of produce, which would be of assistance. There was a very lon~ discussion as to whether the Dairy Association should affiliate with the Employers' Federation so as to be better fitted to meet the demands in the dairy factory workers' dispute, which was now proceeding in the district. Mr W. Pryor, Secretary of the Federation, addressed the Association on the benefits of affiliation, and it was eventually decided to recommend the Executive of the Association to affiliate with the Federation. Several speakers denounced town agitators,, who fostered the dispute that had occurred in the country, it being pcointed out that the trouble was caused by "wasters," not workers.
