(Pom Our Own Correspondent). TINUI, June 15. On the 12th inst. the bachelors hospitably entertained their friends at ;a ball. The weather being fine a large number of guests from nil parts of the district were present, and the ■opinion expressed was that it was one of the; most successful gatherings held this winter. The supper table was artistically decorated. Some very pretty flowers were kindly given by Mrs Daysh, of Masterton, and these flowers, together with handsome Japanese table centres, gave the table a delightful effect. These decorations were carried out by Mrs Crawford and Misses Barton, Bovey and Perry. Others who aro deserving of a word of praise are Mr C. Stilborn, secretary, and Messrs S. Schofield and M. Sinclair, M.'sC. Extras were played by Mrs Long, Missca Sutton and Southy, and Mr F. O'Connor. The music was supplied bvjyir,F. McKenzie. "*"* The Canwells footballers journeyed to Tinui and defeated the home team by tlitk'Q to nil. This is the second win'iifer Carswells this winter. The weather was perfect, and a large number of spectators were present. At the game was a hard and fast fine, there was great excitement. Butn teams played the game in a proper sporting spirit. Mesdames Crawford and Hancock, kindly provided afternoon tea oil the ground, and needless to say these ladies were heartily cheered for their thoughtfulnejs.
