LONDON MARKETS.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable messages from their London office, dated the 4th instant'— Frozen meat—Active demand for lamb, and the market is firmer. Poor demand for mutton and prices are weak. There is also poor demand for beef, the market being very dull owing to this cause. The following are our quotations for New Zealand frozen meat:—Prima crossbred lamb, Canterbury heavy, s§d, light sgd, prime crossbred lamb, North Island, houvy, sd, light 4£d, prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury heavy, 3d, light 3&d. North Island heavy, 3Jd, light 3|d, ox beef, fores, 3d, hinds 3§d. The weather is hot and sultry. Butter—The Copenhagen official quotation remains unchanged. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the 30th May, amounted to 76,000 cwt., as compared with 7fi,000 cwt. for the corresponding week of 1907. The market is quiet, but prices arc steady in consequence of small stocks; finest 10: J. Tallow—Since our last telegram primj mutton tallow is unchanged. GaoJ mutton higher by 6d to 9d per cwt.
