CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the , Caatlepoint County Council was held I on Saturday last. There were present —Cra Speedy (chairman), Langdon, Richardson, Bennett, Ryder, and Foreman. Mr Barton attended and laid before the meeting the plans of the road in the Whalcataki Valley, which it is proposed to make, by raising a loan of £2,000 under the Local Bodies Loans Act. The District Road Engineer also forwarded the plans of the road proposed to be made from Tinui Vallay to Pakowni, a distance of neary sixteen miles. Mr R. J. Barton applied to have his name placed on the Electaral Roll as lessee of section 461. Messrs Gawith and Logan wrote in reference to survey of Mrs Cox's, section of five acres, which it is pro podetl to take under the Public Works Act, 1905, and that Mrs Cox be [ asked to contribute part of the cost. The balance sheets were returned from the Audit Office, duly certified. The Road Overseer applied for an allowance for horse feed, as he had a good deal of riding to do. —A sum of £4 was voted to him. Tne Clerk was directed to enquire from Messrs Chapman and Tripp if the memorial to tha Governor had been presented re taking land for a ro;ul through the Native Reserves at Whakntaki and Uastle Point, and request them to urge the Government to have the matter completed, and that Mr Barton be asked to make two slight deviations in the survey of the road down the Whakataki Vallay. The question of connecting the office with the telephone service was considered, and the Clerk was directed to enquire the approximate coat of same, and to call a special meeting of the Council for June 13th to strike a spacial rate of 1-20 th in the £ to meet interest and other charges on a loan of £2,ooo»for forming and met-jlling the road on the Whakatpki Valley.
