ASSOCIATION MATCH. SWIFT (WELLINGTON) v. MASTERTON. A very interesting Association game was witnessed at Lansdovaie, yesterday, when the newly-formed Masterton Club tried conclusions with Wellington Swifts. The ' visitois brought up a fairly strong team, afcd Masterton had in the field several old Association "soccer" players who matured in the Old Country. The result was a very even game, the Wellington men having no easy task, and indeed were fortunate in not being beaten, as in the second spell the local men sent*the ball over the bar three times. The final scores were —Swifts 4, Masterton 2. The form shown was not brilliant on either side, but there was some excellent individual play, the numerous crowd that witnessed the match quite enjoying the new experience of head and foot-work. The visitors' goals were kicked by Rogers (2), PyeSmith, and White, whilst Robertson (penalty) and Glen scored for the local team. Barry, Rogers, Elson and White, were probably the pick of the visitors, whilst Smith, Doyle, Lawrence and Robertson showed up most prominently among the home team. Mr J. Leighton was referee.
