METEOROLOGICAL.

Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall on the Upper Plain for the 24 hours, up till 9 a.m. on Sunday, wag M points, and for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Monday was 7 points. Rain fell on fifteen days in May. The maximum fall in 24 hours was 75 points on 6th, and the minimum 2 points on the sth. The total for the month was 2.94 inches, as against 3.59, 5.25, 5.69, and 9.62 in May 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907. The total for the five months of the year is 12.62 inches, ah against 15.48, 14.85, 20.33 and 29.79 for the corresponding period in 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907.

At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours. Wind— Southerly, moderate to strong at all places northward of Napier, Taupo and Kawhia, northerly moderate to strong all other places. Barometer Little movement northward of Napier and VVanganui; fall everywhere else. Frost is probable in parts of the North'lsland and on high country in the South Island.
