PRESS COMMENT. Received May 29, 8.15 a.m. LONDON, May 28. The English papers contain comment on the suggestion of the Paris journal "Le Temps" regarding at alliance between France and Great Britain. The "Daily News" says:—"We would regard a specific alliance between France and Britain as a disaster for European peace, even if the Republic proved more accommodating than "Le Temps" would make one expect, and did not insist on our substituting a conscript for our voluntary army." The "Daily Telegraph" remarks: —"Whatever the future may bring forth, for the present the entente cordiale will suffice."
The "Morning Post" says:—"The question whether friendship should culminate in a partnership must not be lightly nor hurriedly treated." The "Daily Chronicle" is of opinion that:—"The cordial understanding may become our alliance, but there is no occasion to foica the pace or anticipate the future."
