FERTILE TAURANGA.
PHENOMENAL CROP OF MARROWS. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Enclosed please find herewith photo and statement re a huge crop of marrows now growing on Mr Simpson's property in Tauranga. The land is a bit of drained swamp. The crop id not an unusual one for the district, but, being handy to the town has been much admired and talked about by visitors from other parts of the Dominion. The crop is exactly as grown with the exception that Mr Simpson had unfortunately fed the largest specimen to the cows. The dent in the marrow in front of Mr Simpson shows where this was overlaying the other. It was at the instignation of Mr W-- Courtney, of New Plymouth, that the marrows were photographed and measured and he declares that in an experience extending over half a century he has never seen a growth to equal them. — Yours faithfully, COLIN NORRIS.
