AUSTRALIAN NAVY SUBSIDY.

Received May 24, 4.30 p.m. LONDON, May 22. In the House of Commons the Hon. R. McKenna, First. Lord of the Admiralty, stated that the Australian naval subsidy would cease automatically in 1913", or earlier if the new arrangement foreshadowed at the Colonial Premier's Conference were ratified. Mr McKenna added that the scheme put forward by Mr A. Deakin was at present only a bare outline and required much amplification before it could be discussed with advantage while the inherent difficulties were very great.
