TRAMWAY CONDUCTORS' GRIEVANCES.
AUCKLAND, May 20. A meeting of the employees of the Auckland Electric Tramway Company passed a resolution in view of the company having dismissed several mt-n without allowing them to adduce evidence in self-defence. The Union considers the time has arrived when the company should be made to stand by it 3 agreement. The unionists decided to insist upon reinstatement of Conductor Herdson, or that satisfactory reasons be given for his dismissal before noon to-morrow, failing which the men will take measures to enforce compliance with their demand. In the event of a strike the Union has decided that no unionist shall return to work with any black-leg labour that may have been engaged by the company to run the cars. A meeting of the Union, attended by 117 of the men to-night, unanimously confirmed the resolutions passed by the meeting this morning, and decided to issue a manifesto to the public explaining the men's case. The position according to the resolutions is that unless the management concede thp men's demands by noon, to-morrow, the strike will take place. Mr Roaser presents the men's demands to the general manager in the morning.
