DUTY ON IRISH TOBACCO
Received May 20, 8.8 a.m. LONDON, May 19. In the House of Cotrmons, Mr William Redmond, M.P., gave notice ot motion to provide for a lower duty on Irish than on foreign tobacco. IMPORTATION OF PLUMAGE BILL. Received May 20, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, May 20. Lord Avebury's Importation of Plumage Bill, intended to check the wholesale destruction of birds, was read a second time in the House of Commons, and referred to a select committee. ADMINISTRATION OF PAPUA. Received May 20, 9.26 a.m. LONDON, May 19. In the House of Commons, Mr Henniker Heaton called attention to the unsatisfactory state of affairs in Papua. He asked if an officer of proved ability could be appointed as administrator. Colonel Seely, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, replied L that no official information as to the appointment of aii administrator had l.een received. He added *.hat the matter rested with the Commonwealth Government.
