METHODIST CHURCH.
A SOCIAL EVENING. A social was held in the Methodist Church last evening. There was a large attendance, and the Rev. J.\N. Buttle occupied the chair.
The Revs. C. E. Beecroft and W. J. Williams, President of the Conference and Chairman of the District, respectively, and Mrs Williams (Sister Olive) were present. The Revs. Beecroft and W. J. Williams and Mi's Williams delivered interesting addresses, which were much appreciated by the audience. During the evening the choir, under the conductorahip of Mr S. ri. Ralph, sang "Great and Marvellous are Thy Works"; Misses E. Daniell and M. Elliott contributed a duet, and solos were rendered by Miss Heron and Mr Ruhertson. Mrg Edwards and Miss N. Daniell and Messrs S. H. Ralph and Morris sang a quartette. Refreshments were provided by the ladies. On the motion of Mr H. Beale votes of (hanks were accorded to the Revs Beecroft and Williams and Mrs Williams, to the singers, the ladies who supplied the refreshments, and to the Dresden Piano Company for the use of a piano.
