EVICTED TENANTS.
"PLANTERS" ON ESTATES. A DECISION OVERRULED. Received May 20, 8.8 a.m. LONDON, May 10. The Court of Appeal at Dublin, overruling Mr Justice Wylie's decision, declared thnt despite the fact of planters or farmers planted on estates in place of evicted tenants offering to dispose of their interests to the Estate Commissioners in order to facilitate the re-instatement of evicted tenants, the commissioners were debarred from acquiring such land against the will of the landlords. The case arose out of the proposed acquisition under the Evicted Tenants Act, 1907, of 4,000 acres of the Clanr.icarae Estate. The court holds that compulsory acquisition applies oniy to holdings of new tenants who are not bona fide tenants using or cultivating the land as ordinary farmers.
