A PUNITIVE EXPEDITION.

FIGHTING IN PAPUA. Received May 18, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, May 18. The special correspondent of the Sydney "Morning Herald" in Papua gives a graphic description of the experience of a small expedition sent to punish the Ukiaravi tribe for attacking two white traders. Fifteen hundred natives attacked the expedition. Four of the Government force were wounded. After two natives had been killed and three wounded, the remainder lied to the bush. Several natives have been handed over, but the ringleader of the attack escaped.
