A MINE FLOODED.

GREYMuUTH, May 10. The heavy rain experienced on the Coast during the last few days has caused the flooding of the Tyneside Mine. On Friday night the mine manager and miners had a hard fight to keep back the water, but it steadily increased until it reached the pumps, and at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning the mine was abandoned. The loss to the district is considerable, as the weekly coal output was 2,000 tons, and 150 men are thrown out of employment. It is held by experts that the mine is a total loss.
