A LIBEL ACTION.

DAMAGES AGAINST "THE TIMES." .. _— LONDON, May 8. In the libel action brought by Mr Murray, the publisher, against "The Times," newspaper, a verdict was given for plaintiff with £7,500 damages. A stay of execution was.granted, on the ground that the damages were excessive.

The libel complained of was contained in a letter printed in "The Times" on October 19th last. The writer accused Mr Murray of charging an extortionate price for yueen Victoria's letters, published by his firm.
