ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME
AT 'FRISCO
Received May 8, 1.2 a.m. SAN FRANCISCO, May 7. Admiral Evans' fleet has arrived at San Francisco. ' Upwards of a million persons accorded the fleet a welcome, and the enthusiasm was intense. Received May 7, 9.27 p.m. ' SYDNEY, May 7. The Lord Mayor presided over a meeting of citizens held in the Town Hall to discuss the matter of entertaining the American fleet on its visit to Australia. It was decided to co-operate with the Commonwealth and State Governments to arrange a fitting welcome to the fleet.
