METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —Westerly Rale at nil places northward of East Cape, Tauno, and Kawhin; heavy south-easterly sale thence to Castlepoint; southerly, strong to gale thence to Kaikoura and Cape Farewell, but southerly, moderate to strong elsewhere. Barometer. — Rise at all places northward of Thames and Manaukau Heads; rise fast soon thence southward to Napier, rising soon in other parts of the North Island; further rise in the South Island. Rain is probable in most parts of the North Island, and colder weather everywhere with frost on high country in South Island. Warning signal for westerly gale .is exhibited at Cap* Maria Van Diemen. Tiritiri, and East Capa, and for southerly gale at Cape Campbell and Farewell Spit.
Mr J. C. Bodclington reports that the rainfall reigstered at Upper Plain for the twenty-four hours up to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, was two points, and for the twenty-four hours up to 9 a.m. on Wednesday 75 points.
