INDIAN FRONTIER TROUBLE.
CASUALTIES IN MONDAY'S FIGHTING. Received May 6, 8.15 a.m. CALCUTTA, May 5. During yesterday's fighting Lieut. Campbell, of the Fortieth Pathans, received a gunshot wound in the thigh. A private of the Royal Munster Fusiliers and a Se>oy of the Khaibar Rifles were also wounded. The Sufi Sahib is near Thatsoti paaa with a small following. ZAKKA KHELS AND MOIIMANDS PEACEFUL.
Received May 6. 8.15 a.m. LONDON, May 5. Renter's London correspondent reports that a majority of the Zakka Khels are sowing niaise at Mardan, a village about twentj-two miles west of Kabul. Thure in tne Bazaar Valley threaten to oppose Sufi's advance. The Mohmands are hanestmg. Several Indian Maharajah* have offered themselves for Imperial service, and have placed troops at the disposal of the Government. LARGE BRITISH FORCE TO THE FRONTIER. Received May 6, 8.59 a.m. CALCUTTA. May 5. General Willcocka controls twentyfive thousand British and nathe troops on the frontier. SILENCE OF KABUL AUTHORHIES. VIEWED WITH GRAVE SUSPICION. Received May 6, 11.10 n.m. CALCUTTA. May 6. The troops mobilised on the northwest frontier of India comprise 31 battalions of infantry. 15 squadrons of cavalry, and 64 guns. LONDOM, May 6. The continued silence of the Kabul authorities regarding the frontier raids is viewed with grave suspicion in Britain. WHAT THE FIGHT SHOWED. AFGHANS dNABLE TO FACE ARTILLERY. Received May 6, 11.50 p.m. CALCUTTA, May 6. The result of Monday's fight has discredited fciufi Sahib in his efforts to rouse the Afridis. He and his followers have returned to Afghanistan. ' The fight showed that the Afghans ware quite unable to fact artillery. A shell killed three Mullahs, who were hiding in a ravine.
