BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. GREYMOUTH, May 2. Preparations are proceeding on an elaborate scale at Otira for the function in connection with the commencement of the Otira tunnel on Tuesday, and the gathering promises to be the largest ever held on the Coast. /The day has been declared a public holiday, and all the schools throughout the district will be closed. The Railway Department is making every arrangement for successfully dealing with the enormous passenger traffic that will be offered. Given fine weather the function should be a great success. Sir J. G. Ward is expected to arrive in Greymouth on Monday afternoon by the Tutanekai.
