STRONG BRITISH FORCE AT PESHAWAR.

Mohmand headsmen are coming to confer with the chief commissioner of the north-west frontier, hoping to avert further punishment. Received May 1, 10.20 p.m. LONDON, May 1. In the House of Commons, the Hon. H. H. Asquith, replying to Mr J. C. Lonsdale, said the Government admitted that the Afghans had joined the Mohmand raiders. The Government of India had, he said, communicated with the Ameer of Afghanistan, whose action seemed to he reducing such participation.
