PERSONAL.
Mr Frank Wall, of Maryborough, left yesterday on a trip to England.
At the Methodist Church, Carterton, last evening, a welcome social was tendered to the Revs. W. W. Avery and J. T. Pratley, the newlyappointed ministers to the South Wairarapa circuit. The Rev. W. J. Elliott preside!, and a number of -vocal items were rendered. Supper was provided by the ladies of the i congregation. Mr T. S. Hester, who has been tranferred from the charge of the Masterton Post Office to be postmaster at Lichfield Street, Christchurch, has accepted a presentation of an umbrella from the lady assistants at the telephone bureau, but declined, on principle, a general presentation from the staff. The latter, however, gave Mr Hester a letter of appreciation of the high esteem they held him in during his term of office in Masterton*
