At the conclusion of his tour of Zululand, Sir Matthew Nathan, Governor of Natal, speaking at Verulam, said that the Government's proposals refuted the most wrongful charge that Natal was careless of native interests. The Government wished to govern in the interests of both natives and whites, only supremacy must be maintained.
