A TESTIMONIAL FUND.
PALMERSTON N., April 25. The committee of the J. M. Johnston Testimonial Fund, which was a spontaneous tribute from personal friends of the treasurer of the Manawatu A. and P. Society, who was sent to Sydney as a delegate for that Society in the hope that his health might be restored, met yesterday afternoon to pass its balance-sheet. Without any publicity whatever, and I without asking anyone to contribute a sum equal to £450 was raised in a few days, chiefly in the Manawatu, Rangitikei and Parakareta districts.
