SITUATION BRCOMING SERIOUS. MOBILISATION *OF TROOPS ORDERED. Received April 24, 10.30 p.m. CALCUTTA, April 24. More bodies of so-called Afghans, numbering several thousands, belonging to the Ningrahari and Shinwari tribes, have crossed the Kabul River and joined the Mohmands. The Ameer's authority, which is shadowy in relation to them, has not been asserted. The mullahs' influence is growing rapidly. The mobilisation of the trjops has been ordered. ALLEGED CAUSE OF THE TROUBLE. LONDON, April 24. Reuter reports that the general opinion is that the northern India policy and the withdrawal of the troops who were operating against the Zakka Khels are largely responsible for the situation. Some of the frontier tribes imagine that Britain is afraid of offending the Ameer. The Earl of Minto, Viceroy and Governor-General of India, returns to Simla forthwith. •
