The New Zealand footballers defeated a team selected by the Newcastle Union by 53 points to 6. There were only a few spectators present. Tries were scored by R.owe (3), R. Wynyard (2), Johrfson, Dunning, Messenger, Tyler, Tyne and Wrigley. Of these, six were converted by Messenger, two by Turtell, and one each by Tyler and Johnston.

The Wairarapa Rugby Union fixtures will commence to-morrow. The teams will meet as follow: SENIORS. Carterton v. Red Star, at Carterton. Maaterton v. Greytown, at Master ton. JUNIORS. Dalefield v. Masterton, at Daleiield. Te Ore Ore v. Maryborough, at GreVtown. Carterton v. Red Star, at Carterton. The following is the Carterton junior team to play Red Star juniors on the Carterton Reserve to-morrow: —Thomas, Hodge, Merewood (2), Underhill, Henderson, Price, Blake (2), Bond, Thomas, Offsoski, Forman, Healy, Stoodley. Members of teams this season will only be admitted free to grounds on production of passes, which will be issued to them by their respective secretaries. The Wairarapa Union intend to strictly enforce this regulation this season.
