"OVER-PROOF" HOP BEER.
SLY GROG-SELLING CASF. WANGANUI. April IP. Eleven persons were on Thuisday, at Raetihi, fined £2 each ana costs for selling over-proof hop beer. The evidence showed a biu: tr; ,r, ° amongst co-operative labourers on the Main Trunk railway in ibis uiiiiii, and the Government analyst pronounced some of the samples as being double the strength cf ordinary brer. F. Brinson, lor r.ly grog-selling near the Main Trunk railway, was also fined £SO, in default thrae months' imprisonment, on one information, and on a second information was sentenced to three months' imprisonment without the option of a fine.
