MR KRUGER'S MONEY.

STATEMENT BY GENERAL BOTHA. SPENT IN WAR EXPENSES. PRETORIA. April 17. Referring to the cable message of 6th March, relating to the late Mr Kruger, General Botha now explains that Mr Kruger handed "the money referred to to the late Government when he quitted the Transvaal. It was to be expended by the various military commanders. General Botha offered Lord Milner a financial statement, not the money itself.

The cable message referred to was to the effect that the Transvaal Premier, General Botha, had stated that the late Mr Kruger left 14,000 sovereigns and 48,000 bluebacks, which had been offered to Lord Milner (late High Commissioner for South Africa), who refused to accept the money, which was still in the bank.
