THE MAITLAND TRAGEDY.
ADITIONAL PARTICULARS. SYDNEY, April 16. The girl, Lilian Bridge, who was found murdered in a paddock near Maitland, was at the time of the tragedy on her wav to meet a younger sister, who was employed at the house of Green's father. Received April 17, 9.52 a.m. SYDNEY, April VI. Green was amongst thoso who flocked to the scene of the tragedy and joined in the expressions of horror. A young man named Green has been arrested on suspicion of having committed the murder.
THE BOSTON FIRELOSSES OF BRITISH INSURANCE COMPANIES. LONDON, April 15. The losses of British insurance companies in the Boston fire amount to £328,000. The Royal Office loses £IOO,OOO, the Norwich Union|£4o,ooo, and the Northern Assurance £30,000. A fire in the Boston suburb of Chelsea, on Sunday night, destroyed a square mile of buildings. Ten thousand persons were rendered homeless, and several deaths were reported. The damage was estimated at two million sterling.
