SHREWSBURY RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
DRIVER ALLEGED TO HAVE • FALLEN ASLEEP. Received April 17, 9.41 a.m. LONDON, April 16. Inspector Yorke believer that Martin, the driver of the Shrewsbury express on October 15th, fell asleep at his post. A railway accident, involving loss of life and serious injury to several persons, occurred at Shrewsbury, between Crewe and Bristol, at 2 o'clock on the morning of October 15th. A London and North-Western Company's express was running between the places named, when at a sharp curve it was dera'led. Fifteen coaches were destroyed. Nineteen persons were killed and forty injured.
