MR DEAKIN'S RESIGNATION. AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. Received April 15, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 15. Mr Deakin, Federal Prime Minister, has officially confirmed the report of his intention to remain in office at least till the tariff has been put through. He will move an amendment to the effect that the question of a Royal Commission to enquire into matters connected with the Post Office be postponed till the'tariff is out of the way. He expects this will be accepted by Mr Fidher, after the Labour caucus. It is hoped that harmonious relations will be restored when the House meets to-day. Tt is understood that the majority of the Labour members who voted against the Government have agreed to tall into line.
