fit 9 a.m. yesterday, Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —Westerly, moderate to strong at all places north of Napier and New Plymouth; northerly strong to gale thence to Timaru and Hokitika after from 10 to 16 hours; westerly, strong to gale everywhere else. Barometer. Little movement north of Napier and New Plymouth; fall at all other places. Rain is probable in the South Island, and is also probable in the North Island south of Napier and New Plymouth after 20 hours. Warning signal for northerly gale is exhibited at Capes Foulwind, Campbell, and Farewell Spit, and for westerly gale at Nugget Point.
